Abstract
A novel phthalocyanine derivative, the quaternary iodide salt of magnesium(II) phthalocyanine with N-methyl morpholiniumethoxy substituents, was subjected to the photodynamic antimicrobial study. Phthalocyanine possesses excellent photodynamic activity against planktonic cells of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The photosensitivity of bacteria in the biofilm was lower than that in planktonic form.140
