Abstract
An antidiabetic drug which mimics amylin, pramlintide, forms stable complexes with Zn(II). The metal binds to the imidazole of His18 and the amine group of Lys1. The initially well-soluble Zn(II)-pramlintide complex forms fibrillar aggregates after a lag-time of 20Â h.161
