Abstract
Cd(II) solubility-bioavailability is intimately associated with molecular interactions exemplifying toxicity, thereby prompting the synthesis of well-defined binary-ternary species from aqueous Cd(II)-glycolic acid-(N,Nâ²-aromatic chelator) systems. Their physicochemical characteristics guided in vitro studies revealing structure-/concentration-/cell line-specific toxicity, reflecting necrosis-apoptosis mechanisms, projecting thermodynamically driven chelation as a molecular protection tool against Cd(II) toxicity.216
