Abstract
Porphyrin bearing two trans-positioned ferrocene and methoxy methylene substituted tert-butylphenyl moieties has higher lipophilicity and solubility but lower toxicity than analogous porphyrin with four ferrocene entities. This together with appropriate redox potential enables its better cellular uptake and its increased redox reactivity towards biomolecules, which results in its overall increased antimicrobial activity.120
