Abstract
This work describes the inactivation of urease, a nickel-containing enzyme that affects both human health and agriculture, by one of its most efficient inhibitors: catechol (CAT). The high-resolution structure of the CAT-urease covalent complex as well as quantum-mechanical computations contributed to the development of a kinetic model of the reaction.320
