Abstract
This dimetallic cation possesses a mixed-valent (MV) structure with a very low first redox potential. End-to-end charge delocalization is not the main contributor to its large extra-stability, which instead originates from other electronic effects. This compound can be used as a photocatalyst precursor for the etherification of benzaldehydes by alkoxyalkylsilanes.144
