Abstract
Formation of hexacoordinate (tBuPCP)IrH(Cl)(L) occurs via preferential coordination of L = RCN, pyridines trans to the hydride ligand causing the IrCl bond elongation. In the original (tBuPCP)IrH(Cl) and its (tBuPCP)IrH(Cl)(L) derivatives, chloride ligand is able to serve as a proton accepting site forming Clâ¯HX hydrogen bonds.452
