Abstract
The fresnoite structure related novel reduced barium titanium chlorosilicate, Ba3Ti2Si4O14Cl0.91O0.09, were synthesized via flux method. An in situ reduction of Ti(IV) to Ti(III) achieved using Mg metal. The 3D structure consists 2D layers of fused Ti2O9 and Si4O12 and 2D layers of fused Ti2O9Cl2 and Si2O7 connected via barium atoms. Compound shows simple paramagnetism above 100Â K.456
