Abstract
⺠Hydroxyproline is of similar reactivity to bulk plant N in monocots and gymnosperms. ⺠Protein cross linking makes hydroxyproline in dicots more resistant to decomposition. ⺠Hydroxyproline can be a quantitative tracer of plant-derived N in soil.
