⺠ToF-SIMS used for analysis of biomarkers in a phototrophic microbial mat. ⺠Biomarkers in extracts and cryosections compared using ToF-SIMS and GC-MS. ⺠Fatty acids, glycerolipids and pigments in single diatom cells assigned. ⺠Distribution of fatty acids imaged at the microscopic level.
