Abstract
► Extractant and soil type affect amount of extractable proteinaceous material (PM). ► Adsorption mechanisms for soil proteins may differ for different types of soil. ► Analysis of PM from highly organic soils is problematic due to humic compounds. ► Added protein adsorbs more rapidly to highly organic or clay soil than sandy soil. ► MW of the extracted compounds mainly <10 kDa, although ca. 15-50 kDa compounds also seen.
