Abstract
⺠We examined biomarkers and stable carbon isotopes from oils from western India. ⺠Biomarkers indicate organic matter was deposited in highly saline, anoxic environment. ⺠Biomarkers and isotopes provide evidence for the Proterozoic age of the oil.
