Abstract
⺠An integrated biomarker approach reveals climate conditions in the Alboran Sea over the last 2000 yrs. ⺠TEX86H temperatures are higher than inferred from U37Kâ², probably due to seasonality. ⺠BIT index indicates predominant marine provenance for the sedimentary organic matter. ⺠δ13C of long chain n-alkanes indicates predominant C3 plant contribution over last 2000 yrs. ⺠Long chain 1,14-diols suggest enhanced upwelling conditions during a positive mode of the NAO.
