Abstract
⺠A soft solid bitumen was heated to simulate maturation of bitumen in reservoir. ⺠HyPy was engaged to release biomarkers and n-alkanes from bitumen residues. ⺠Biomarker parameters in HyPy pyrolysates were more stable than in maturation products. ⺠δ13C of n-alkanes in HyPy pyrolysates of various maturities are similar. ⺠HyPy provides a way to study solid bitumen at mature to high-over mature stages.
