⺠First survey of archaeol concentration in peatlands, including downcore profiles spanning 2 kyr. ⺠The dominant source of archaeol in peatlands is anaerobic, presumably methanogenic. ⺠Evidence that climate and vegetation influence archaeol concentrations.
