Abstract
⺠Humic acid was cross-linked in solid-state reactions with a polycarboxylic acid and a diepoxide. ⺠Cross-linking reduces water solubility. ⺠Cross-linking alters thermal properties by reducing the number and strength of water bonds. ⺠These reactions may serve as models for natural cross-linking of soil organic matter.
