Abstract
⺠Eleven oil seeps from the Carboniferous Region of Tulé (Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela) were studied. ⺠These hydrocarbon-rich fluids have undergone biodegradation (PM degrees 2 and 6 out of 10). ⺠These oil seeps were generated from the La Luna source rock, which reached the peak of the oil window. ⺠The oil seeps analyzed are the result of a mixture of two oils that resulted for two generation pulses. ⺠Evidence of light oil trapped in the Cachirà area should prompt re-exploration in shallow reservoirs.
