Abstract
⺠Glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (GDGTs) have become increasingly popular biomarker lipids in organic geochemistry. ⺠They have applications in both microbial ecology and geochemistry. ⺠Several palaeoenvironmental proxy indices have been developed. ⺠They are being increasingly applied in palaeoceanography and palaeolimnology.
