Abstract
⺠Peat-forming plants other than Sphagnum moss contain n-alkan-2-ones. ⺠Almost all the species maximized at C27 or C29 ketones except ferns (C21-C23). ⺠Microbial degradation can be a major contributor to the ketones in sediments.
