Abstract
Twelve steroidal saponins, along with 13 known compounds, were isolated from the stems and leaves of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis. The aglycones of four of the steroidal saponins (shown below) have not been previously described. Two of the isolated steroidal saponins displayed potent cytotoxicity against two tumor cell lines, while none showed anti-HCV activity at a concentration of 20 μM.
