Abstract
Eleven phenylethanoid glycosides and ten phenolic glycosides were isolated from the stem bark of Magnolia officinalis. Most of these compounds contained an allopyranose moiety, which is rare in the plant kingdom. Some of the isolated phenylethanoid glycosides showed potent α-glucosidase inhibitory effects.
