Abstract
Seedlings of a maize susceptible hybrid (SH) accumulated more fumonisin B1 (FB1) than a resistant hybrid (RH) regardless of the mycotoxin source (infection with Fusarium verticillioides or watering with FB1). FB1 unbalanced sphinganine (Sa) and phytosphingosine (Pso) levels depending on maize genotype. Susceptible and resistant phenotypes increased Pso and Sa, respectively.
