Abstract
Noscapine is a major alkaloid in opium poppy that has been used as a cough suppressant and investigated as a potential anticancer drug. A history of important phytochemical and pharmacological discoveries, including recent progress toward elucidation of the noscapine biosynthetic pathway, is presented.70
