Abstract
XTH15 and XTH31, two highly basic Arabidopsis XTHs, were very predominantly a transglycanase (XET) and a glycanase (XEH), respectively. XTH31 had a pH optimum of 4.5 and may contribute to 'acid growth'. Their substrate preferences are compared and contrasted with those of other XTHs.
