Abstract
The production of seven phenolic compounds including verbascoside and the flavones baicalein, scutellarein, wogonin and their respective glucuronides baicalin, scutellarin, and wogonoside was studied in hairy root cultures of Scutellaria lateriflora. Higher levels of baicalein and wogonin were produced under light than dark culture conditions. Methyl-b-cyclodextrin at 15 mM had an effect on the levels of selected phenolics.139
