Abstract
- E. longifolia is both diploid and tetraploid, in congruence with chemotypes.
- Diploid cytotypes produce very high yields of essential oils.
- Tetraploid cytotypes produce very low yields of essential oils.
- The safrole/methyl eugenol chemotype is diploid and very rare.
- The isomenthone chemotype is a suitable cultivar for commercial crops.
