Abstract
Five previously unreported γ-hydroxynitrile glucosides (prinsepicyanoside A-E) together with 11 known compounds were isolated from the seeds of Prinsepia utilis. Their structures were determined by detailed analysis of NMR and MS spectroscopic data. Co-occurrence of the hydroxynitrile glucosides and their corresponding furanones supported the possibility of the proposed biosynthetic mechanism for furanones generated from γ-hydroxynitrile glucosides.
