Abstract
Pea (Pisum sativum) cell wall metabolism in response to chilling was investigated. The contrasting pectin status observed between Terese, the frost-sensitive genotype and Champagne, the tolerant, indicates a protective role of pectin as part of the frost-tolerance mechanism.
