Abstract
⺠A cDNA of P450 in sanguinarine biosynthesis was isolated from Eschscholzia californica. ⺠Recombinant P450 (CYP82N2v2) was produced in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. ⺠Recombinant CYP82N2v2 showed protopine conversion to produce dihydrosanguinarine. ⺠Recombinant CYP82N2v2 also showed allocryptopine conversion to produce dihydrochelerythrine. ⺠Characterization of the substrate-specificity supported the 6-hydroxylation in the reaction.
