Abstract
⺠Tropane alkaloids accumulate in the young leaves of Erythroxylum coca. ⺠Hydroxycinnamoyl quinate ester levels are correlated with tropane alkaloids. ⺠Hydroxycinnamoyl quinate esters are made by the BAHD acyltransferase EcHQT. ⺠Complexation of chlorogenic acid and cocaine can be observed in vitro.
