⺠Sixteen putative β-substituted alanine synthase (BSAS) enzymes are found in soybean. ⺠The BSAS family in soybean encodes for three distinct enzymatic activities. ⺠Phylogenetic analysis of BSAS enzymes can predict function in the family.
