Abstract
⺠Melissa officinalis is an important medicinal plant accumulating rosmarinic acid. ⺠The gene encoding rosmarinic acid synthase (RAS) was cloned and expressed. ⺠Lemon balm contains only one gene copy of RAS. ⺠Kinetic data for RAS were determined.
