Abstract
⺠Steroidal glycoalkaloid (SGA) content changes during plant development. ⺠SGAs accumulate in aerial meristematic tissues. ⺠Leptines and leptinines account for the increases in SGA content of Solanum chacoense. ⺠Transcripts of genes coding for SGA biosynthetic enzymes are detected in proliferative but not all mature tissues.
