Abstract
⺠Three isolectins (KSA-1-3) were isolated from the cultivated Kappaphycus striatum. ⺠KSAs are monomeric proteins of about 28 kDa having identical N-terminal sequences. ⺠KSAs have affinity for high-mannose-linked glycoproteins but not for monosaccharides. ⺠KSA-2 shows the strict binding-specificity for high mannose N-glycans. ⺠KSAs are evaluated with a unique carbohydrate probe, promising their medicinal uses.
