Abstract
⺠Cadmium ions may bind weakly and strongly to ferredoxin:NADP+ oxidoreductase molecule. ⺠Binding is dependent on protonation of thiol groups of cysteinyl residues. ⺠Cadmium binding results in inhibition of electron transfer catalysed by the enzyme. ⺠The type of inhibition may be described as almost pure noncompetitive.
