Abstract
Pterocarpenes, aracarpene-1 (1) and aracarpene-2 (2) were isolated from fungus-challenged peanut seeds. Aracarpene-2 demonstrated high antibacterial properties against tested gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. These compounds may represent a class of peanut phytoalexins with a defensive role(s) against pathogenic microorganisms.
