Abstract
⺠Membrane-bound peroxidases were indicated by experimental data and in silico analysis. ⺠Orthologs and phylogenic relations of maize peroxidases are analyzed. ⺠Evidence for a localisation of class III peroxidases in microdomains is presented. ⺠Hypothetical models of membrane-bound isoenzymes showed a high structural conservation. ⺠The data at hand suggest essential functions of membrane-bound peroxidases in oxidative stress. ⺠Comparison with animal thyroid peroxidase points to a general function in membrane protection.
