Abstract
Ultra-low Pt catalysts with Ptshell–Aucore nanostructure were prepared by seed mediate method for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The as-prepared catalysts were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV–Vis measurements. The ORR activities of the catalysts were studied by electrochemical measurements and single cell tests, respectively. The results indicate that the PtAu/C (Pt: Au = 3:2, Pt + Au = 4 wt.%) catalyst exhibits the core–shell nanostructure and attractive catalytic activity in both electrochemical test and single cell test. The Ptshell–Aucore nanostructure is promising for application to lower the cost of PEMFCs.
