Abstract
A recently discovered family of enzymes, the ABBA prenyltransferases, catalyzes the aromatic prenylation reactions in the biosynthesis of aminocoumarin antibiotics, meroterpenoids and phenazines in Streptomyces bacteria. They are soluble, monomeric proteins of approximately 35 kDa and show a unique Ã/α barrel structure.
