Abstract
Young shoots from Sambucus ebulus L. contain a d-galactose lectin which displays 80% and 45% of amino acid sequence homology with the B-chain of the ribosome-inactivating proteins ebulin l and ricin, respectively. SELlm, like ebulin and unlike ricin, binds to d-galactose-containing matrix at 0 and 10 °C but not at 20 °C.
