Plants and particularly their seeds have great potential for low cost production of chemical feedstocks and novel compounds, but rational metabolic engineering requires a better understanding of central carbon metabolism. To aid flux quantification we report new and improved measurements of 13C labeling information from specific compartments within the plant cell.
