Abstract
A tetrahydofuran lignan, tripterygiol (1), and eight known compounds, were isolated and structurally characterized from the ethyl acetate extract of Tripterygium wilfordii which was proven active in a clinical trial for the rheumatoid arthritis. All isolated compounds inhibited expression of pro-inflammatory genes in mouse macrophages.
