Abstract
The isocoumarins paepalantine, 8,8â²-paepalantine dimer, and vioxanthin isolated from Paepalanthus bromelioides, were assessed for antioxidant activity on isolated rat liver mitochondria. Paepalantine was powerful agent affording protection, apparently via O2- scavenging, from oxidative stress conditions imposed on organelle.
