Abstract
Leaves from Phytolacca heterotepala H. Walter (Mexican pokeweed) contain at least ten type 1 RIPs (heterotepalins), some of which are glycosylated. The primary structure of heterotepalin 4 is identical to that deduced for PhRIP1 (AC: AY327475) from the cDNA sequence, with the exception of residue 245, which is Ile instead of Met.
