Abstract
Two serine hydrolases from Arabidopsis thaliana (At), S-formylglutathione hydrolase and AtCXE18, were screened with a series of methylumbelliferyl esters. The hydrolysing activities were then compared with those obtained with a crude protein extract from Arabidopsis and the 'model' carboxylesterase porcine liver esterase.
