Abstract
The rice sesquiterpene synthase OsTPS3 catalyzes the formation of (E)-β-caryophyllene and several other sesquiterpenes, including β-elemene and a-humulene, which are components of inducible volatiles of rice plants. Methyl jasmonate (MeJA) promotes OsTPS3 gene expression and (E)-β-caryophyllene production.
