Abstract
Polygalacturonase-inhibiting proteins are produced by plants to counteract the activity of pathogen-derived polygalacturonases and limit the aggressive potential of phytopathogenic microorganisms. Here, we describe the structure of the inhibitor and focus on our current understanding of its interaction with polygalacturonases.
