Abstract
The new antiplasmodial flavonoid 3-methoxy carpachromene was identified in an extract of Pistacia atlantica by HPLC-based activity profiling. After isolation, assignment of the 1H and 13C NMR resonances was carried out by extensive analysis of its NMR spectra and the spectra of its diacetate derivative. 3-Methoxy carpachromene had an IC50 of 3.4 μM (1.25 μg/ml) against Plasmodium falciparum K1.
