Abstract
A periodic mesoporous organosilica (PMO) has been successfully functionalized with perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid groups by reacting the PMO with 1,2,2-trifluoro-2-hydroxy-1-trifluoromethylethane sulfonic acid β-sultone. The resulting material exhibits much higher catalytic activity in the alkylation of isobutane by 1-butene than perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid functionalized SBA-15, alkylsulfonic acid functionalized PMO and zeolite Y.
