Abstract
Ce/Zr mixed oxides comprise an interesting system with great potential as catalysts in a wide range of applications. However, less consideration has been given to examining the performance of such catalysts in the combustion of chlorocarbons, which are claimed among the most important volatile organic compounds emitted in industrial flue gases. The scope of this study is to analyse the catalytic behaviour of these materials in the oxidation of trichloroethylene focusing on elucidating the oxidation mechanism by means of a combined flow and infrared spectroscopy study.
